Delighted to welcome Cornish based artist Jeremy to the Duffield Art Gallry team of professional painters. Jeremy needs no introduction, born in 1969 he studied at the famous St. Martins School of Art, then went on to graduate from the University of the West Country with a first class honours degree. He was also a ‘Prince’s Trust’ gold medal winner. His work has been commissioned for various national adverts for Nat West, Tui , Saga, and Cunard. Jeremy paints outside, in situ, in oils, with broad, intense, rich colours that vibrate with energy and light. But don’t just believe me, come and see for yourself.
Richard Whittlestone
Richard is one of the UK most loved and respected wildlife artists. Born in Yorkshire, Richards childhood spent on the family dairy farm had a huge impact on his art. Self taught, he began painting at an early age and sold his first picture at just 13years old. In his teens Richard bred pheasants, quails, ducks and finches. Birds remain his first love and inspiration, watching them and sketching them, observing how they interact with each other. Richard has his own gallery and studio on the iconic Chatsworth Estate at Pilsley. We feel very privileged to host a selection of his work here in Belper. Every one of Richards paintings includes his trademark ‘fly’, can you spot it?
Nick Walker
Manchester born Nick Walker is the newest artist to come on board, he divides his time between here and his second home in Brittany. He paints quickly and boldly in strong vibrant oils to capture the warmth and light. Possibly the happiest and sunniest pictures you’ll ever see.
Robin Mason
Robin was born in Staffordshire, he trained at North Warwickshire School of Art, and lives and works in Tamworth now, but divides his time between the midlands, Cornwall and the north east coast. His work ranges from seascapes to landscapes in either oil or pastel, with the main emphasis being on atmosphere and capturing the light.
John Connolly
John Connolly graduated in 1976 from Derby University and has had a successful career in the arts ever since. Painting mostly on location, John divides his time between his home in Bolsover, Derbyshire and Cornwall and the Scilly Isles. He likes to incorporate local materials like sand and dried grass to connect his paintings directly to the landscape depicted. John is also a professional actor and playwright. We love his vivid, energetic painting’s, we know you will too.
Abstract Paintings
Peter Bainbridge
Peter divides his time between landscape gardening, painting and his passion for horse racing . His work is clearly inspired by the calm serenity of the garden and the visiting wildlife and the buzz and Adrenalin of a race meeting. His attention to detail can only be achieved by a true racing enthusiast . If you love horses, you’ll love these, we certainly do!
Michael Forster (1907-2002)
Born in India to English parents, educated in London Central School of Arts (now St. Martins) and the Academie Colorossi Paris. He relocated to Canada in 1928 where surrealism was almost unknown and was dubbed “Canada’s Pioneer of Surrealism”. 1952 saw him move to Mexico, drawn by its culture and vital art scene led by Diego Rivera and Frieda Kahlo. After the death of his wife in 1974, Michael returned to England and spent the rest of his life in Treen, Cornwall, overlooking the sea and his flower garden. Here he produced a body of work sold mainly through his open studio and through Messums in London. This small but significant collection was curated by a passionate collector. A certificate of authenticity is provided with each unique piece. As expressed in his own words: “I dive into colour as I dive into the Tropical sea, I rejoice in colour, how can we live without it “

Eddie Hallam
Eddie Hallam is an active and passionate wildlife conservationist. His bronze sculptures are in high demand both nationally and internationally. We at Duffield gallery feel very privileged to be 1 of only 4 galleries in the UK to have Eddie’s work permanently on display. Each bronze sculpture can take up to six weeks to sculpt, then it is moulded and cast in bronze, using the centuries old technique of “lost wax” casting each bronze is then “patinised” by Eddie to give its individual colour and finish. A patina can never be repeated, so even though the bronzes come in limited edition numbers, every single sculpture is unique.

She has held many successful exhibitions up and down the country. Her paintings aim to contemporise the traditional subject of still life with a modern illustrative quality that captures the everyday moments. Gill works from her studio at home in Cheshire. Cliff Towler
Delighted to welcome acclaimed the Dorset wildlife life artist to our team, exhibiting for the first time in Derbyshire. Cliff says “My work is my life. Everywhere I have been, everything I have seen and everything I have done is reflected in my interpretations of the world in wildlife, animal and bird paintings and portraits” Cliff Towler’s work has been displayed in many galleries over the years. His success secret is simple: do what you love… He loves painting studies of local wildlife. Avocets, oystercatchers, puffins resting on the rocks in Purbeck, or an osprey catching its prey. His detailed, vibrantly coloured and gentle paintings capture the animals in movement.
